WE NEED WOOD!

The problem is not that we are harvesting wood. The problem is the way we are doing it. wood is a part of out everyday lives. At that will likely never change unless we run out, in which case survival will be difficult. but as for now wood is the one material mankind has always used to build both homes and art. wood is also essential for fire, which helps us cook and keeps us warm. Without wood humans would not be alive today. So we cant stop using wood. Wood is renewable so it is a good resource to use and it makes sense to use it but it takes a long time to grow. so if you cant keep time under control you could lose the use of it. The fact is that if we stayed at the rate of clear cutting were at today in 100 years there will be no more rainforest.
So what do we do?
Selective Cutting is one way that we can reduce the negative impact on the environment when we harvest lumber. Selective cutting is one random trees are selected in a forest to be cut down. This is different from clearcutting because not all the trees in a specific area I harvested. Selective cutting is better on the environment because it is not to story entire habitat. Selective cutting also allows for shade to still be in the forest. A negative aspect of selective cutting on an economic standpoint is that it is more time-consuming and more difficult to cut down random trees the. just harvesting lots of trees quickly and in one small area. Unless governments work harder at protecting the forests companies will continue to do whatever makes them more money and in this case clear-cutting is a billion dollar industry.
